Janeane Garofalo, Let’s Talk
While watching Ms. Garofalo tiredly label all conservatives as pathologically racist, ignorant, redneck “tea-baggers” with swollen limbic cortexes, my immediate anger quickly turned to laughter and then slowly deflated into a deep sadness. I think Ms. Garofalo would benefit from meeting with and having an open and honest conversation with a bona fide conservative American. She clearly has no conservative friends or aquaintances. You can only say these kinds of stupefyingly ignorant and hateful things about an entire class of your neighbors and fellow citizens without actually knowing one of them.
I’d like to open my door to Ms. Garofalo. In all seriousness, I’d love to sit down for dinner with her and have an honest conversation about life, politics, religion, music… whatever. We’re not going to convert one another – we’re clearly operating from VERY different worldviews. But perhaps, we might learn to understand and appreciate one another as thoughtful human beings; learn to better communicate with those we disagree with without resorting to the worst kinds of name-calling.
And I’m the real deal, Ms. Garofalo. I’m a conservative, pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-capitalism, anti-socialism, pro-defense, pro-gun, meat eating, global warming-denying, born-again-fundamentalist-Christian whack job. Necks don’t come any redder, ma’am.
Whaddya say, Jeneane?

Why in the name of anything or all that is holy would you talk to something like Garafolo or let her near enough to any place that you frequented to pollute it with her presence?
Humans should no more attempt discourse with her breed than they should with rats, cockroaches, or any other sort of disease carrying vermin. Why throw pearls – human speech in this case – before something that evolved in the bowels of swine?
The provocateur that preceeds me really needs a new avatar (talk about a bad hair day).
I read about her comments, but I don’t know who she is — “famous” though she may be. Perhaps that’s what’s bugging her? She is really most known for making remarks of this sort and not for her comedy.
I’m conservative. And I live in a black neighborhood (for about 20 years) and I’m white. But the tv Dems all tell me I’m a racist. It’s their stereotype and their pat answer. Don’t fret a second about it. She’s a blip on the radar screen.
Yikes, Jonolan! Methinks you and Ms. Garofalo might have more in common than either of you would like to admit.
“I’m a conservative, pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-capitalism, anti-socialism, pro-defense, pro-gun, meat eating, global warming-denying, born-again-fundamentalist-Christian whack job. Necks don’t come any redder, ma’am.”
What a line. I love it. Although, I’m not sure that last part is true. I caught a glimpse of my neck as I was exiting the shower this morning and it was pretty red indeed. I don’t know; maybe it was just a sunburn.
This woman is crazy. Does she really believe that people who attended Tea Parties are red neck racists. SHe makes me sick. We are sick and tired of taxes and taking our hard earned money and bailing out the Banks, etc., without any rules or regulations. We need to get rid of the lobbyists and the majority of people in Washington, D.C.. We have given money away for years and it is time for all of us to say NO. The people who pay the taxes should have something to say about where all of our money goes. If we all ran our own businesses like D.C. we would all be looking for bailouts. Janeane needs to see how the real people live…African Americans, Mexican Americans, we are all the same…and we attended the tea parties.
Jim B,
I call as I see them and I see no point in softening my position against Garofalo’s sort. When things like her mouth their filth, they should be derided, and as harshly as is possible for one to do so- or at least that’s my opinion.
Let us know if she responds to you. That would be worth a listen, desean
“And I’m the real deal, Ms. Garofalo. I’m a conservative, pro-life, anti-gay marriage, pro-capitalism, anti-socialism, pro-defense, pro-gun, meat eating, global warming-denying, born-again-fundamentalist-Christian whack job. Necks don’t come any redder, ma’am.”
And we southern folk thought we were the only ones! Glad you yanks have learned something.
Seriously though, why and how does that always get equated with racism? I didn’t get when I lived in the south and got dissed for simply being southern when I lived in Detroit and Ohio by liberal northerners who had never even visited there, and I don’t get it now from someone who has probably never ventured very far from the hallowed walls of the Ivy League and hasn’t a clue as to what the ordinary American believes in.
And that’s the mistake they’ll make in the long run, discounting how many of us have values that don’t change with whatever popular political opinion is at the time. As far as I know patriotism isn’t a four letter word yet, except to folks like her.
First: There is no basis or proof given to the claims of J.G. Are we to see her as one with knowledge & authority because she is on TV, movies, and formerly on radio? This is what Hollywood experts expect, is it not? Because she is interviewed by one such as Keith.
Second: Take not that the one calling others racist, J.G. I will call her, is the one calling our president a “Black Man”. I, myself, consider everyone to be of “One Race”. It has been proven, genetically, that we are all of common original ancestry. Even, so I am told his Father was of darker melanin and his mother much lighter. Which, even to one who sees “black and white”, makes our president neither of the two. The disagreements are because of our president’s agenda and those of his administration and associates.
Third: As a family, we are discussing skipping 24 the rest of the season. I too am not pleased with the global warming infomercials or do I mean propaganda nor J.G. and her public comments. I see no truth to the extremist claims pushing us into spending our resources on things much more costly and so unnecessary. That is the true waste of our given resources. I believe we are to be good stewards of what we’ve been given and entrusted with, however I know the earth will end as we know it at the appointed time. Man has no control over that.
Fourth: Will I be sent to Gitmo for being “a Right Winger”?
Just watched The Boy In the Striped Pajamas. Watch it! Learn from history.
I haven’t watched 24 this season – not because of Ms. Garofalo – but I do find it odd that someone so far to the left would deign to star on what amounts to a right-winger’s wet dream.
Dude! you really should return to blogging
Like you (I think), Zack, Facebook – along with a job, three kids, church, etc. – has destroyed my blogging. I lifted a copy of Boyd’s “Is God to Blame?” and was so annoyed within the first few pages that I thought of blogging a chapter-by-chapter review. It’s just a thought for now…
God Bless
