Shai Linne on Spurgeon & Rap

I was planning on writing a post in defense of ‘Reformed Rap’, ‘Holy Hip-Hop’, etc.  And then I read Shai  Linne’s recent post on Spurgeon and Rap: Would Spurgeon Approve of Rap.  I quickly realized Mr. Linne said everything I would have wanted to say (and more), and much more eloquently than I could have.  Also check out an older post on Linne’s blog: Rap v. Hymns.

Over the last year, I have been tremendously blessed, encouraged and challenged by the hip-hop stylings of godly men like Linne, The Ambassador, Timothy Brindle and Stephen the Levite.  While differing opinions regarding appropriate musical styles is surely a secondary and non-essential issue between brothers and sisters in Christ, I do believe those outspoken critics of this particular method of sharing the gospel do a great disservice to the Body of Christ and the world by hindering it.

Decide for yourself.
