    Good grief, Charlie Brown!

As many of you know I am a wildlife photographer by profession, and I love nature. However, if one is really a student of nature, you can see that the cycle of birth and death is a natural part of God’s plan of regeneration. A tree dies, but from it comes new life. Bees use dead trees to build hives in. Wooodpeckers feed on it. Eagles build nests on snags. Nothing is wasted, because nature is the ultimate recycler.

If people choose to worship the creation rather than the Creator, they are going to be in for a rude shock, as nature is constantly in a state of change. Trees die from lightning strikes, fires and are blown over by high winds. In order to really understand appreciate nature, one must respect the natural cycles, which are always going to occur whether man interferes or not. That’s the way of the forest.

If these people want something to grieve over, there’s plenty of live folks who do need help desperately. Instead of crying over the state of a dead tree, let them be concerned with the fate of the live folks on this planet, whose condition can be improved.

What’s so funny? People do that at IU all the time. We have an entire school for them, it’s called SPEA.
