Firstly, I would like to say that I thoroughly enjoy Tom Cruise, the actor. I have enjoyed Cruise’s body of work and think he is a very talented entertainer.
But, you have to check out this video of Tom Cruise promoting Scientology. Apparently, it has been removed from various sites (Scientologists are notoriously litigious and intolerant of dissent), but will be available at the above link for a while.
This is truly scary stuff. I laughed, I cried… I stared in saddened, stupefied disbelief and wonder. On the plus side, I did learn some new Scientology lingo:

I believe there are numerous Scientology Orgs that deal with various issues (e.g. the Sea Org). They seem to be comprised of those who are “higher up” in the cult.
SP: Suppressive Person / PTS: Potential Trouble Source
Suppressive Person, often abbreviated SP, is a term used in Scientology to describe the “antisocial personalities” who, according to Scientology’s founder L. Ron Hubbard, make up about 2.5% of the population. Another 18% are PTS (Potential Trouble Source), as a result of the SPs. A statement on a Church of Scientology website describes this group as including notorious historic figures such as Adolf Hitler and Genghis Khan as well as others who “are less obviously seen.”
Scientology offers a “Tech” for dealing with SPs and PTSs (Cruise mentions this - these folks don’t mess with Tom). I hope I never find myself on the wrong end of that Tech…
